     11 I'm applying for the Data Engineer position with Rogers School District. Automating repetitive
     12 processes, keeping systems synchronized, and documenting everything clearly is work I find
     13 genuinely engaging, both in my day job and on my own time.

     15 In my current role as a Software Quality Analyst at Leggett & Platt, I test web and mobile
     16 applications across platforms for functionality and stability. Part of that work involves writing
     17 automation scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline repetitive testing tasks. I
     18 work independently, communicate findings clearly to developers, and verify that applications
     19 correctly ingest and retrieve data during functional testing.

     21 Outside of work, I run a home lab where I automate data synchronization using syncoid for ZFS dataset
     22 replication and rsync and restic for multi-destination backup pipelines. I provision and manage systems
     23 through Ansible playbooks, keeping everything documented and repeatable. This hands-on experience
     24 designing and maintaining automated data flows translates directly to the synchronization and
     25 automation work your data engineer will own.

     27 I want to be upfront about where I'm still developing. My SQL exposure is modest. It comes from
     28 functional testing, confirming that applications correctly ingest and retrieve data, not from
     29 production data work or dedicated data engineering. My Active Directory exposure is at
     30 an administrative fundamentals level. I'm actively building on both, and my approach to
     31 certifications (CompTIA A+ and Linux+, with more in progress) reflects how I close gaps. I study
     32 systematically and reinforce it with hands-on practice.

     34 My scripting fundamentals are solid across the languages you need, and I have a track record of
     35 working independently without close oversight. I'm process-oriented by habit. I document my work,
     36 test before I deploy, and flag problems early.
